Mark Tucky lectures on the Intermediate stage of Drum Set Buying Part 1
Now that your skills have advanced to a higher level, now is a good time to move up the ladder to better equipment to advance you to the next level. At this stage your rudiments are solid, your groove is getting to feel great, your fills are in great time and your rolls are getting clean! At this level let's keep the learning curve moving up. Before I get into equipment I would like to give some recommendation to a couple of books to help your studies to the next level .Now as you know there are many to choose here so I will keep my list short .In the next article I will get into the advanced drum set buying and advanced books to get into, but for now I will recommend these 2 books:
Advanced Concepts by Kim Plainfield
Complete Modern Drum set by Frank Briggs
Kim's book is really nice because the grooves and fills are just awesome because he takes you from beginning reading to pretty advance stuff on the Polyryhymic Concepts side of things.
Frank's book will not be an easy read as to the reading part of things, but if you can get the reading down here you are well on your way to way advanced playing.
These books will take some time and study on your part so put in the time to master these books and you will see a side of your playing that is short of amazing!
Ok for the intermediate drum sets here:
Pearl Vision Birch VBX 5-Piece Drum Kit
The Vision Birch VBX drum kit offers drums of two different thicknesses, for a perfectly EQ sound right out of the box. The Vision Birch VBX rack toms are made of 6-ply birch, for the perfect amount of high-frequency content, and the floor tom and kick are of 8-ply birch for increased low-frequency response. This kit also includes a steel Sensitone snare shell that lets the backbeat slice through even the most cluttered mix. Kick pedal, snare stand, cymbal stands, and hi-hat stands are included in the Vision Birch VBX kit. This kit is priced around 1000 dollars but it is well worth it!
Tama's Superstar Custom 5-Piece kit
Priced at the 1200 range this kit is also of birch and an astonishingly great value at that. If you want to cut through the mix, these birch shells give you the cut and attack you need, while first –class hardware (including Tama's Star-Cast mounting system and quality die-cast hoops) maximizes the sound and tonality of this kit .Tama equipped the Superstar Custom 5-Piece kit with cymbals and stands, so you're on your way to great drumming virtually out of the box! They also finished the shells with lacquer – a treatment you'd only expect to find on much more expensive kits.
I would like to say that I am not a paid sponsor of either of these company's I listed above., However I can highly recommend both of these kits with great excitement as the quality is off the charts with both of these sets! If you are interested in checking more on these kits check out their websites and enjoy. If you have any questions for me, Mark Tucky feel free to contact me at drummdoc@yahoo.com and next article we shall tackle the advance set up. Keep your spirits high and never give up!

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Paiste-PST-3-Effects-Pack-1018?sku=447553
I know that the splash can be put on the normal cymbal stand and it also comes with a hi hat stand but i dont know if you can put the china one on that stand, so what im asking is do i have to get another stand?
or get this pack http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Zildjian-Planet-Z-Z3-Plus-Pack?sku=449973 which has the hi hat and other cymbals but people say it sorta sucks
Answer:
Cymbals that are great quality cost dude. But it all depends on your application. If our learning, you dont wanna invest alot of change into a set or cymbals. If your playing live performances and entertaining people, you want quality stuff. The more you get into it, your gonna get addicated to it and buy all kinds of awesome gear anyways. As far as the china cymbal, a ordinary stand will work fine, but i would look into a spring loader that hooks to the end of the stand and kind takes some of the shock from the blow to the cymbal. Will make it last alot longer since most drummers beat the hell out of china cymbals good luck. As far as the paiste cymbals, they are budget cymbals, but a good choice for starters. Rock out bro!
