Frequently Asked Questions...
Should I get a new bass clarinet mouthpiece?
I've been playing on my school bass clarinet for 2 years now, though I've been playing bass clarinet for the last 6 years. No matter how much air and force I use, I can never get loud enough. Is it the quality of my instrument? (It's in pretty bad condition. The mid-B/low-E key is broken.) I even changed to a new reed but I still can't get loud. Is it my mouthpiece? What should I do?
Answer:
You should get a new mouthpiece regardless if it is in bad condition. Bass clarinets are not loud instruments, but you should still get a new mouthpiece and see if that helps.
